Citrus Bowl Change name to Camping World Stadium!!!
ORLANDO, Fla. —
The 80-year old Citrus Bowl has a new name.
Florida Citrus Sports announced Tuesday that the stadium will now be known as the Camping World Stadium.
“I’m proud to announce Camping World now has the naming rights for the Citrus Bowl in Orlando,” said chairman and CEO of Camping World Marcus Lemonis. “Our goal in getting involved in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando wasn’t just because of the great football games that are there, the bowl games. It’s also because we believe there are other great activities that can happen there.”
The newly-renovated stadium is named after the retailer of RVs, RV accessories, and RV-related services.
As part of the new agreement, Camping World will sponsor preseason neutral-site football games that will debut on Labor Day. The event will be called, Camping World Kickoff.
“We’re proud to partner with Florida Citrus Sports and the Central Florida community to help build memories for the next generation of residents and visitors,” said Lemonis. “Florida is a key market for us, as we have 14 Camping World supercenters in this state, more than any other.”
The former Orlando Citrus Bowl underwent a $207.7 million reconstruction in 2014. The stadium has hosted three college bowl games, the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, the Russell Athletic Bowl and the AutoNation Cure Bowl. The stadium also hosts the Florida Blue Florida Classic.
The revenue from the naming rights will go to Florida Citrus sports, but officials said the money will not directly help in bringing a college football national championship or the NFL’s pro bowl to Orlando.
Three games have been scheduled in the newly renovated stadium. The first is on Sept. 5 between the Florida State Seminoles and the Ole Miss Rebels.
